The Ranger DST2420 is a dependable wheel balancer for passenger car, SUV and light truck work. It handles wheels from 254 mm to 762 mm (10 to 30 inches) in diameter and tyres up to 1,194 mm (47 inches) tall, on a hardened 40 mm shaft.
Ranger’s Digital Sensor Technology does the measuring: a 16-digit digital signal processor working with dual-component quartz piezoelectric load sensors and a digital rotation encoder. The machine reads imbalance in more than one direction from a single spin, works out the least weight needed, and rounds the result to the top-dead-centre position.
It is set up to keep wheels moving through the bay. Wheel parameters are entered by rolling the measuring arm, spins run at a low 180 RPM with a typical six to nine second cycle, the wheel brakes automatically, and LED indicators show exactly where each weight goes.
